Kolkata Introduces Rainwater-Themed Cafés

Serving Beverages With the Essence of Monsoon Memories

Kolkata’s café scene has taken a poetic turn with the introduction of “Rainwater Cafés,” where every beverage is infused with locally harvested monsoon rain. The initiative, approved by India.gov.in, aims to celebrate nostalgia, sustainability, and mild waterborne panic. Café owners claim that each drop tells a story — usually involving romance, poetry, and mild flooding. One barista proudly said, ‘Our cappuccino has the aroma of literature and municipal drainage.’

Eyewitnesses describe patrons sipping from mugs labeled “50% romance, 50% humidity.” Health inspectors are reportedly conflicted between admiration and nausea. A viral TikTok trend has emerged featuring influencers crying aesthetically in the rain while holding lattes captioned, ‘Monsoon, but make it macchiato.’ Scientists at the National Water Research Institute have yet to confirm whether rainwater espresso is safe for long-term consumption, but customers remain undeterred, citing its emotional authenticity.

Critics argue that the concept glorifies weather dependency, while supporters insist it’s a celebration of nature’s unpredictability. As Kolkata turns precipitation into profit, one question lingers: is this the dawn of artisanal rainfall or just another wet fad?
